Pilates is a wonderful way to keep your body strong, flexible, and balanced, no matter your age or fitness level. It’s a type of exercise that focuses on controlled movements, core strength, and improving posture. Think of it as a workout for both your body and your mind—calming yet challenging at the same time.
Created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, it was originally designed to help injured dancers and athletes recover and build strength. But don’t worry—you don’t need to be a pro or even particularly flexible to enjoy it!
The best part? Pilates is all about quality over quantity. You don’t need to do hundreds of reps; it’s more about moving thoughtfully and with control. It’s great for toning muscles, easing back pain, and improving overall body awareness.
So, whether you’re looking to feel a bit taller, move more smoothly, or just try something new, Pilates might just be your next favourite thing!
My name is Kimberley Fearn. I am an experienced teacher and I want you to enjoy my classes above everything else. I won't bamboozle you with technical terms and jargon. I know my stuff and I will help you progress but I am much more likely to be giving you a thumbs up and a cheesy grin during the class than showing off my perfect text book poses. I am not tiny, not amazingly flexible (I am working on it). I aim to make you feel welcome and not out of your depth. I want you to go away feeling like you have done something good for your body and mind.
I've been going to Kimberley's classes for two years now and can honestly say that they are a highlight to my week! It's a fun, light-hearted, yet very effective workout. Kimberley has the ability to make everyone feel welcome and adapts the class according to level. She injects humour into her classes which puts everyone at ease. It feels very inclusive and friendly. I can definitely feel the benefit of my weekly classes. Suzy - Hethersett Class.
I always love attending this friendly class. Kimberley is an experienced pilates teacher and prepares a great session every week, often introducing new exercises and routines. I leave feeling energised and uplifted and my core strength and fitness levels have really improved since I started in January. Highly recommended. Nicola- Gralix, Deopham Class.
While both improve strength and flexibility, Pilates emphasises core stability, precise movements, and posture, often with specialised equipment. Yoga includes a spiritual element with meditation and breathing exercises, focusing on holding poses and flowing sequences.
Not at all! Pilates is for everyone, regardless of your current flexibility or fitness level. Over time, it can actually help improve your flexibility and range of motion.
Yes! Many people find relief from back pain through Pilates because it strengthens the core, improves posture, and enhances spinal alignment. However, it’s always best to check with your healthcare provider before starting.
Wear comfortable, fitted clothing that allows you to move freely—think leggings or shorts and a close-fitting top. Avoid anything too loose as losing your t-shirt in a pose isn't much fun.
Absolutely! Pilates is highly adaptable to different levels of fitness and experience. Beginners often start with foundational exercises to build strength and understanding before progressing to more advanced movements.
